The Mobiel Makerslab (‘mobile maker lab’) tours Ghent’s various district libraries to initiate teenagers into digital maker culture. Children aged 10 to 14 can build their own dream city by means of laser cutting, electronics and video mapping. The city inhabitants are Bristlebots: tiny, self-propelled robots built from a brush head.
Through the mobile maker lab, Digitaal.Talent@Gent stimulates cooperation between district organisations and an organisation with expert maker skills. This thematic and district-oriented approach guarantees a creative and informative learning process, leading to spectacular results and potentially sparking social-artistic and technologically-inspired neighbourhood projects.
